Today I had a nice lay in and decided to go for a walk along the beach which was called Serendipity Beach closest to the backpackers area and all the beach front bars, then along Occheuteal Beach where many of the locals were and finally around the small headland and on to Otres Beach. Otres Beach was a long stretch of beach front that has not really been developed yet, so was very quiet and only had a couple of beach front bars/restaurants staking claim to their patch on the beach.

I stopped at one of the bars on Otres Beach for some lunch and got talking to an English guy and his Cambodian wife and child who were from Phnom Penh but were down here for a short holiday by the beach. He was basically renting out his property in the UK and living off the income from it over here and only working when he really needed to. What a great way to live.

After some lunch I headed back to my hostel along the beach, the same way that I had come totalling about a 10km walk for the day. Surely this justifies some drinking tonight?

This evening I went out for some dinner at Mick & Craig's Sanctuary as the Lonely Planet said that they served hearty portions. After dinner I headed down to the beach were most of the bars where. I got stopped by the first bars as they were offering 1 free drink with a flyer that they were giving out just by the entrance, how could I refuse?

Inside the bar I got talking to Freddy and Chris who were students from Guildford University and ended up spending the whole night with them drinking. When we moved on to JJ’s bar just one bar along the beach from where we were, we ended up getting covered in fluorescent face paint, including my clothes. It was just a good job that I had the camera as no one could take a picture of me and I couldn’t see what had been drawn on my face.

Before heading home tonight Freddy, Chris and I went off to Utopia where they were staying and had a burger and chips from their snack shop. Just what I needed after drinking whiskey and red bull out of cut off 7UP bottles!
