Bonjour mes amis, nous sommes en France. We left Ramsgate at 9:15 with bright sun and little wind. On hoisting the sails are speed fell to 1.5 knots so we the motor was put on again as we piloted our way through the Goodwin sands. Within half an hour the wind changed direction and rose to 19 knots. We then sailed the rest of the way to Calais, arriving in port at 14:30 just as the gate to the marina opened. The gauge showed 3.1 meters and there was a sign saying the sill wad 2 meters. We were unsure whether we had 3.1 metres or 1.1 metres so decided to wait for the next opening. Whilst we waited reread the almanac and did a tidal height calculation. We went in on the next opening. Having tied up we went to the beach, where Debs and I went swimming. The water was warm and the beach sandy, it was great fun, if a little strange to see big ferries entering a couple of hundred metres away. The ferries are very frequent with several each hour. Tonight we are off to find a good restaurant. Pictures of the swimming to follow when we get back to the UK.

Agus Punished by P&o for Punished by P&o for being Early.Sadly a colleague Booked my ferry with P&O.I retruned 18 hors Early and was charged a Massive €73 to travel on top of the fair already paid.P&O = Pricey and Overated.|I thought Piracy was outlawed but is alive and well in the guise of P&O.However Norfolk line appear to treat their customers a lot fairer. and is of course a LOT CHEAPER
