OVERLAND THROUGH AFRICA
The first part of our journey onto Ethiopia was good. The road was unexpectedly tarmaced the whole way to the border at Gallabat. We passed through the town Nile town of Wadi Medani which is a honeymoon destination for the Sudanese. We stopped for lunch and had the best kebabs of the whole trip.
The landscape changed considerably along the way from dry desert conditions to a much more fertile grasslands the closer we got to Ethiopia. We pulled of the road and camped a few kilometers before the border and had our first tase of African bush camping. We couldn't start a fire although we had bought fire wood in Khartoum which we stored on our roof, but will save it until we can bush camp proper.
