The journey to Nakuru was easy and the road was quite good. Nakuru was one of th towns that saw a lot of fighting in the recent troubles and many displaced people from surrounding villages have been moved to the towns showgrounds for safety. The town had a colonial feel to it and would have been quite pleasant had it not been overrun with people and refugees but it was nice to see people going about their business again, trying to restore some normaility to their lives. We stopped in town at one of the local cafes to have some lunch. 20k outside town we found Kembu campsite run by a British ex-pat and what a beautiful place it was. Set in rolling countryside surrounded by green fields. We parked on the lawn under a tree and enjoyed a drink in the welcoming bar. Camping life is a lot more comfortable and civilised now we have reached East Africa with many sites having a bar and restaurant.
