Hi all, I've had a fantastic last few days. I made a knife in Barrytown, took a bite of a possum pie (not so great) in Whataroa, panned for gold just outside Franz Josef and today I took a helicopter ride to half way up the glacier and hiked for 3 hours, then got flown back down again. Staying here one more night then moving on to Wanaka and Queenstown tomorrow (unless I decide to stay in Wanaka for a few days). New Zealand is truly beautiful, especially in the south island. There's hardly anyone around so I'm guessing there'll be a big party in Queenstown when we hit civilisation again. Barrytown for example, had one pub and one house as far as I could tell... and we stayed in the pub! I've got some more pictures to upload, but they'll have to wait as the internet facilities in some places leave a lot to be desired. Hope you're all doing fine. Keep the emails coming! Love Penny x
