Penny's Big Adventure
Hi all,
This weekend was really nice, I hired a car and went to loads of places. First stop, Wentworth Falls. We descended a huge staircase (900m) down to the bottom of the falls, which took almost an hour and then we climbed all the way back up again. Meanwhile, I'd sprained my ankle so I was having to hoist myself up using my arms. Was not impressed. The Falls looked gorgeous though. We had a really warm day for it.
From there, we drove to the Blue Mountains. Apparently the reason they look blue is because of all the eucalyptus trees. The views were just stunning, but the walks were nothing like I've ever experienced before. We walked across from Echo Point in Katoomba to the 3 sisters (3 rocks, legend has it that 3 sisters fell in love with 3 brothers from another tribe. Being forbidden, a wizard or something like it turned them into stone to keep them safe, but he was killed so they've been like that ever since). From there we walked the Giant Stairway and believe me it lived up to its name. 1km almost straight down, 2.5km across a rainforest and then another 1km up the Furber Steps! Tired springs to mind. We got on the steepest train down to some scenic walkway, and then a cable car back up. The views were amazing, there was rainforest as far as the eye could see and a blue haze surrounding it.
We stayed in the Blue Mountains til sunset, then we headed off home.
On Sunday, we all got up and I drove to Bondi for the afternoon.
Yesterday, we drove to Palm Beach (where they film Summer Bay). The beach was nice, although I didn't get to find Alf Stewart anywhere, and I completely missed the surf club. I think I was blinded by the sun, as it was 34 degrees. I have a nice tan today though.
So anyway, next weekend is my 31st birthday and I'm planning on having a large night. I have a tiara, given to me by some friends, that seems to attract generous men wanting to buy me drinks. I've decided that the tiara is staying, and will be taken out every weekend until someone cottons on that I'm having birthday celebrations on a weekly basis!
Hope you're all having fun, wherever you are. For those in the UK, see you in 4 weeks.
Love
