THE LAST SUPPER @ THE LAST STRAW
Sa wat dee ka!
Well we knew this day would come, when we would be enjoying our last (for a good while) delicious, lovingly prepared thai meal by our favorite restauranteurs - John and Yao O'Donoghue, and the wonderful accommodating chefs, at their rustically crafted straw bale house in Keppel St.
Always greeted with a genuine pleasure to see you, we will dearly miss our regular haunt; the chats, the hugs, the cooking tips, the thai phrase lesson of the day, the laughs, the Pad Thai Jair and of course Kerry's daily vice - THE best organic coffee in shepp, hand roasted by Shingo. Mmm....a-roy mahk ka! (very delicious)
If your passing through shepp, book a spot at the Huon pine table and enjoy a morsel or two and coffee for us!
News just in - we are very excited to share that whilst it is too hot up north in Australia, we have decided to face our fears ( well, Paige's fears) and travel to Vietnam, Cambodia and Yao's family village Wang Pra Du, in Phitsanulok Province approx half way between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand.
John and Yao have generously offered us a 'Home Stay Experience' and we are very honored and humbled to be the first to stay and soak up the energy and feeling of being part of village life. We are inspired to avail ourselves of the spectacular rainforest, national parks, waterfalls and walks surrounding Yao's family home and Guest House. We very much look forward to sharing our experiences, which may inspire others to part take in their generous invitation, providing others the opportunity to experience Thai village life, untouched by commercial tourism.
Korp kun mahk ka. Lah gorn ka!
(Thankyou very much. Goodbye!)
