Abbie - Today we went on the camels at the Coffs Harbour beach. We learnt so much about the camels. There are about 1 millon camels in the wild in Australia! Camels can last days or even up to 2 1/2 weeks without food! They can also go a long time without water and can drink sea water if there isn't any fresh water available. Because they store fat in their hump they can then use it for energy , so that they can go on longer without food. We also learnt that 2 years ago people went out shooting them and when they shot them they left them there to die. I felt quite sad about that. But the ride was excellent! The camels were all dressed up and it was really fun. Then we went to the Big Banana in Coffs Harbour. It's a big banana that you can walk through! It has a café and lots of awesome things to do! We had some lunch there and then played mini golf that they have there! It was all great! Then we came back and enjoyed a nice rest in the caravan.
Olivia - Today we got up all excited because we were going to go on a camel ride along the beach. After stopping at the post office to pick something up we headed straight to the camel rides. There were a few other people there so we had to wait for the second ride. After waiting half and hour we finally got onto our camels. Dad and me were on our own while Mum and Abbie shared a camel between them. We happily went along the beach talking and the camel behind me was a bit freaky because the man there told me not to pat it on the head. We got to the middle of the beach and the man stopped and told us that there are a million camels in the wild and he also told us a story of how camels got into Australia. We enjoyed our ride and headed straight to the Big Banana. We enjoyed a nice meal for lunch and decided to play a cheap game of mini golf. We enjoyed laughing at each other and making fun jokes until we had finished. We went back to the café and decided to have a bit of afternoon tea. Mum and Dad had a banana fritter while Abbie and I decided to have an ice-cream and a banana smoothie. We then headed back to our caravan. We played a game of bananagrams that we had bought today at the Big Banana. We then enjoyed a nice sleepy rest for the night.
