Today we woke to sunny skies and had breakfast again up on the 42nd floor of our hotel - Cloud 9!
We decided to hire bikes and go around Stanley Park at our leisure. So off we walked down to the waterfront and hired bikes. At the place where we hired the bikes, they were all given names - mine was called "Lorna" and was a 7-speed cruiser. Grant had a mountain bike (Saturn) as didn't want a 'chick bike' like a Cruiser! He would later in the day come to regret that, as the seat on his bike was hard, unlike mine! Nice and comfy!
Off we set on our bikes, remembering to kept to the right, although the main way around the park was anti-clockwise, so there was no oncoming bike traffic. We stopped and took photos and video along the way, heaps more compared to yesterday with Liz and Glenn. The cycle way actually went all around the water way, so had great views of the city, North Vancouver and out of the harbour and back past the Lost Lagoon. We stopped at Third Beach and got a coffee and fruit cup plus mini brownies - yum!
Back on our bikes we carried on around the park marvelling at the views to be had. Once we did the full circuit we carried on around the waterfront to Canada Place where there was a cruise ship in - a Disney Cruise ship! Didn't see Mickey or Minnie!
We then decided to go around the park once more without stopping. Yeah, right! We actually did stop, but this time we did it in an hour, compared to two hours last time. The views were still amazing even the second time around. This time though there even more people on bikes, so it was a bit congested at some points, but that's all part of the experience.
After dropping our bikes off back at the hire place, we headed back to the hotel for a short rest and to give our legs a much needed rest. We then ventured out and decided to have an early dinner. A lot of places were having 'happy hour', which normally included a certain drink and appetisers were half price. We ended up going to the Cactus Club and had a frozen Frose cocktail (a lovely strawberry, elderberry and possibly vodka!). We chose to have the half price appetisers - mini chicken burgers, beef burgers and truffle fries! Our waitress said these were small, but they suited us just fine! We then stopped at the chocolate shop across the road and went back to our hotel for a drink and chocolate - in my case, a cherry coke and Grant's a whiskey and cherry coke!
Tomorrow we hope to hit all the shops and go to the Pacific Centre mall.
