Originally we were going to get the train from Brussels to Amsterdam but after last nights adventures we inured it would probably be nice for a bit of a sleep to recover. So we got the train at around 1030 but not before stopping to get some belgim chocolates for our Dutch relatives and picking me up some cough medicin since I have had this awful cough for like 2 weeks now. Uncle Moke helped us get everything and then brought us to the train station.
When we got to amsterdam we checked into shelter city, our hostel. Now here's the story on it, hostels in Amsterdam are expensive, so we tried to find the cheapest we could while not making it too sketchy. All the recommended hostels were booked so we settled on shelter city, the Christian hostel. I thought a good safe homebase in sin city would be a good idea, however it was not exactly what I was expecting. At shelter city there is no drinking or smoking and you are not to be there if under the influence. They have nightly prayer and play gospel music all the time. It was interesting... And there went our plans of Amsterdam being a party city for us. We went out to get some food, explored the city (however it was rather cold and wet) and then just went to bed early, still being a little hungover from Brussels.
Fun fact: there are 2 bikes for every one person who lives in Amsterdam
