Sawatdee-ka! (hello in Thai) Our entire morning was spent at the beach in the water swimming and snorkeling. I know I shouldn't even say this given that we're here only 8 days, but it is oppressively hot today! I have no idea of the temperature but it has definitely increased over the past 24hrs. Last night was a rough sleep due to the heat, but we just finished lunch and will have a nap now until it cools off (slightly) as the sun sets. Napping in open air...

We forgot to charge the phone last night, so with power available only from 6 to 11pm i wasn't able to take any photos with this camera to post but I will again tomorrow. Finally here and settling in. Our 'baan' (house) is great, and after having lunch (the best pad Thai ever!) we are now lying on loungers out front trying to acclimatize to the heat and humidity. There are many things here that are the same as what we encountered in Costa Rica, including the little gecko/salamander guys on the living area wall and grass roof who chirp away to either welcome us or warn us, not sure which. We had a good, short 1hr flight from Bangkok to Phuket and are now enroute to the resort. The drive North from Phuket to Khuraburi pier where we meet the long tail boat for the remainder of the journey took us on winding roads through many small rural villages. The countryside is lush and mountainous, but similar to many countries in hot climates life is simple and poverty is everywhere - always a reminder of how luxurious and often superficial our lives are in...
