We got a fairly early start to the day and over breakfast decided that we'd take the metro to a Northern part of Kowloon and visit the Chi Lin Nunnery and garden, which was fantastic. A true tourist, it took a bit to figure out how the ticketing process worked in the metro but once we got it down it's a great way to get around quick and cheap!
We then took the metro to Hong Kong island and grabbed lunch. It's much like any huge city, especially on a weekday at lunchtime, so we walked down to the pier and caught the 'Star' ferry back over to Kowloon, which gives views of both Hong Kong and Kowloon.
From there we walked the streets of Kowloon which have a completely different feel - we used comparatives to parts of downtown Toronto to describe it - Hong Kong Central is like Bay St and Kowloon is like Queen St.
We made our way back around to the waterfront for a drink and then headed back to the hotel to catch our flight.
Blogging at 45000 ft now... we left Hong Kong at around 7:40pm Friday after a pretty full day. These longer flights are going by surprisingly fast (helps that I was exhausted!) It's now 6:20am on SAT in Hong Kong, but we get the privilege of reliving Friday all over again, as it's only 2:30 in the afternoon FRIDAY in Vancouver. Yikes! It's definitely going to take the weekend to try to let the body figure this one put! Thankfully I booked a room right at the airport hotel so we can rest and try to get back on track! I'm struggling to stay awake now, and will probably be up all night! We can't wait to get home now to see Mom and the pups!!! :)
