MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so im stuck in an internet cafe on christmas day while waiting for my flight to singapore, life doesnt get much better than that huh?!grrr, sob sob
But actually have had cool few days, left the land of the cute furry ones on 23rd and then got picked up at Cebu ferry by our personal driver in his blacked out 4x4 jeep and had a bodyguard escort us round the markets to get some fake dvds etc. Then an hour into the mountians to a fabulous mountain retreat owned by the aunt of Troy. Its huge. Im not kidding. Troy adn I had the guest suite which was two bedrooms, gym and bathroom.not bad!Teh house itself is high up in the mountians and has the most amazing views. The uncle is mayor of the local town but this family is v wealthy. I was ina five star homestay! They had servants for every need, armed guards patrolling the house, and in the town they had ostriches, a resort, and a shooting range. I kid you not!
Oh and the cars were at our disposal so after a leisurely dinner of exotics including crab and barbequed meats we had an early night. Next morning (xmas eve) we woke up and got driven to town where we went shopping in the malls, and then driven back to the house where we chilled watching films until guests for the party that evening started arriving. And the party was awesome. There was so much food, oh my god guys you all know exactly how much i eat, and I have eaten more here than i can remember!
Just to tempt you, there was a whole spit roasted sucking pig (lechon..which is used for special occasions in the philipines), chargrilled lamb, native chicken and all manner of spring rools, curries, and other filipino dishes. or dessert ther was a choice of cheesecake, apple pie, ginger cake, chocolate cakes and brownies and some others. Was truly amazing. I ate SO MUCH! but not as much as i drank.
Since we are in the mountains it gets a little chilly up there in the evening so while we were watching the defintiely NON british safety standard fireworks (at least a quarter exploded on the patio or just down from us) i was on the vodka sprite and mroe importantly on warm sake shots. Never had sake before, and you just dont feel it when its warm cos had some double figures of sake shots. As you can guess went to bed pretty early but woke up for 12 midnight for christmas hugs then back to bed after some more nibbling on leg of ham, cake and fruit.
This morning we had leftovers for breakfast and then lunch an hour and a half later with local delicacy of sticky rice with gooey mango and local hot chocolate. Then driven to the airport island where i bought a guitar for....12 pounds!! and that wasnt the cheapest one either! Cebu is famous for guitars and they ranged from 8 quid to 150 quid but considering i dont actaully play i thought 12 quid was more than enough for a decorative piece!
My flight this evening is at 8 to singapore so now in a mall ready to shop for four quid tee shirts!Troy left earlier for manilla, was so good to have him as a travel buddy and good friend for last three weeks, made the time go by with three times more fun!
But yeah thats the update, hopw you all are having the best time at home for christmas, miss you all, think of poor pazzy amongdt your turkey and remember texts and emails today are welcomed!
love and hugs from not so starving marvin
MERRY XMAS!!!
