So long Vietnam!
After we got off the bus, we found a hotel and checked in for the night! We decided that it was time to move on from Vietnam. We were originally going to go trekking, but the place we wanted to get to was too far away to fit in. So we decided to go to Cambodia or Laos. Paul went down to a travel agent, and we decided on Laos. Our options were a 30 hour bus or a 1 hour flight! It wasn't a hard choice! So we were to leave Vietnam the next evening.
That night we met up with some of the people from the trip. We got on well so we arranged to meet for dinner at Le Pub! It was good fun! After a few rice wines, we all went to bed!
The next day we had a quick look around Hanoi as we weren't flying until 7pm. We had a walk around the lake and bought a few last minute souvenirs!
We weren't particularly sad to be leaving Vietnam as we had found it quite hard work. Everywhere was ridiculously busy and the people don't leave you alone. We got into it more in the North, but we were still ready to move on, and looking forward to exploring Laos.
We jumped in the taxi, and both fell asleep on the way to the airport! We were feeling peckish, but couldn't bring ourselves to pay $6 for a meal at the airport! We opted for overpriced crisps instead!!
The plane was tiny and not even half full! We hadn't realised, but we got a meal on board, and Paul had his first beer Lao! He was happy!
We jumped in a taxi and headed for the centre of Luang Probang. It took us ages to find a hotel as they seemed more expensive than we were expecting! We finally settled on one, and it turns out that its just a few doors down from where Paul stayed, almost 5 years ago!
We went out for a quick drink by the river, and couldn't believe how quiet it was compared with Vietnam! Hardly any bikes, and nobody was hassling us!
