The bus left Franz Josef at 7:30am, to say James and I were a little worse for wear is a massive understatement. This meant that most of the journey through to Wanaka was a write off which was a shame because apparently it was really beautiful. Thankfully I recovered in time to be impressed by the fantastic views of Lake Hawea. The hangover was further subdued when we arrived in the beautiful little town of Wanaka.

The small town sits on the shores of Lake Wanaka and is a cool place to relax for a few days. For the time we were there myself, the two James’s and the Surrey girls we had met; Anna, Amie and Tanya just sunbathed by the lake and occasionally cooled off with a paddle. One day James (Taylor) and I took a walk to Eely Point where we sat listening to tunes for the afternoon and the next day I sat in a bar and watched the Superbowl. The Saints outclassing the Colts in the 4th quarter to claim their first title.
