Kunming was a transfer city so very little happened. We left the monastery in the morning and drove back to Chengdu and from there flew south to the Yunnan province and the city of Kunming. In the evening we had something to eat and watched a show, we were also joined by a new girl from Ireland called Aisling.
The bus journey from Kunming to Dali lasted about 5 hours. There wasn’t much to do after checking in so a quick walk around the old town was followed by dinner. Now it saddens me to say but 2 weeks of nothing but Chinese food meant I needed a change, I just couldn’t take anymore rice. The chicken pizza I ordered was just what I needed.
The next day was jam packed. Firstly we went on a 20km bike ride (sadly not around Lake Erhai like me and Terry presumed it would be), then strolled around a local food market. We then visited a tie dye shop before having lunch beside the lake. After looking around a local architects amazing lakeside house we drove to the 3 Pagodas. The sun was just setting behind the mountains and the clouds gave us some amazing pictures. Some of you will be aware of my strange love for clouds, the reason is because they paint wonderful pictures like those witnessed here. It was a great way to end our time in Dali.
