Hello! This is my next entry from Munich, detailing our time in Vienna.
Vienna was an interesting and mixed experience for us, especially Malcolm. We arrived late arvo on Thursday, and again we did one of the Busabout recommended Pub Crawl Tours. It was a really great night, and we meet a number of great people, from both Australia and Ireland. However, on the train Malcolm had his wallet pickpotted from his pocket which was a real downer as he spent the next day or so trying to cancel his cards, and get replacements etc. A real bummer.
On our second day in Vienna, we did a walking tour of the city. And yes the city is really beautiful, with amaying architecture and cathedrals and churches and museums etc, but by now we have seen that many they are all starting to look the same. Anyway it was nice to see around the city, and the city is actually a buzz at the moment as they are hosting the European soccer Championships, which is the 3rd biggest sporting event in the world after the Soccer World Cup and the Olympic Games. After the tour we had a traditonal Austrian schnitzel for dinner and called it an early night.
On Sunday, we went on a wine tour in the Wachau Valley, about 80kms north of Vienna. This was probably one of the highlights of the trip. The country side was beautiful, and we spent the day riding bikes along the Danube River checking out wineries, tasting wines, chocolates, jams, liquers, swimming in the Danube river, playing beach volleyball, and having a huge traditional Austrian BBQ lunch. we then drank 3 bottles of wine on the way back (and that was only between 7 of us) where we then shared a few more ales with the other blokes on the tour. And once again we met some really great guys, all Australian too. Australians are bloody everywhere over here, its crazy!!
Anyway out of internet time, speak soon.
