Star Wars Day!! ('May the fourth be with you....')
... Started bright and early for Paul. Off at 5:30, in the sunshine! (It's pitch black at that time at home..). An exploratory 12k around the village of Crick - lots of narrow, windy streets, front doors that open on to the footpath, which is right on the main road.... Thatched cottages.... Paddocks and wind turbines galore and picture postcard scenery. Eventually hitting the Grand Union canal where the canal boats ply. An awesome run.....
Back to Sara and Kevin's brand new 3 story house in time for the sleepyheads and prep for our surprise day visit. Started with a group walk into the high street for croissants, then a drive along the motorways to Warwick Castle. Weather was perfect, skies were blue and the castle looked stunning. We had been there with the kids about 14 years before, but the experience without Rugrats in tow was a very different one. The birds of prey displays were awesome and the new hi tech castle history show was great. Highlight of the day was watching them fire a giant flaming rock through the air with a trebuchet. An awesome experience.
Back to Crick and a wander to the high street to dinner at a typical English pub(The Red Lion) - quaint, low roof, full of trinkets and excellent food. Dog, Putter, was allowed to sit inside with us.
Still light after dinner, we wandered home exhausted.
