Standard routine = Yvonne works out the inside of her eyeballs. Paul works out.
Today's run was a longer one as the crew had planned to snooze s bit. A half marathon along the canal tow path was in order, which took me through lots of great countryside, and past a few historic buildings and bridges, but disappointingly - no locks. For the most part, crunchy gravel, but long sections of lumpy grass and mole tunnelled mud made for slow going. Awesome way to start the day.
After breakfast and a wander through the town we hit the motorways to go to Kevin's work - The posh The Grove golf course. Forget the $400 per game green fees and the plush accommodations, we were just mesmerised by how beautiful the place was. We sat in the glorious sunshine to enjoy a perfect cuppa overlooking the course, then a wander past the impressive sculptures and through the grounds. It's easy to see why all the world leaders and world famous like to call it home. Recent visitors include President Obama and Kevin's list of golf pupils reads like an academy award list.
Onwards to Basildon to drop our bags at Aunty June/Uncle Les (who are remarkably spritely) and a dash to the shops. Lunch was at Sara's and Kevin's favourite takeaway (which is now Paul's) for an excellent burger and a milkshake to die for...
After farewells to our gracious hosts, we settled in at June/Les's with Niece/nephew Matthew/Nicola while we waited for Cousin Lisa to get home. A few hugs later we headed to our new base for dinner (A feast, of course).
Heads hit the pillow after catching up on old times, ready for a routine day for the kids and David, but a shopping/sunshine outing for the rest of us....
