Hey everyone!
I have decided to do a mini blog for the 6 weeks that I am away travelling through central America. We flew in to Cancun, Mexico after a long journey from Birmingham. After 2 changes at Newark and Houston in the USA, we finally arrived! Couldn't believe how humid and hot it was! We got to the hostel and spent a couple of nights there. Cancun is basically like las Vegas but the hotels don't have casinos and they are all next to the beach. Maybe I'll come back here when im a rich lawyer and I can afford the 4-5 star resorts haha! It was quite a dull place though. More American than Mexican too. We decided not to go to chitzen itza as we plan to go to more impressive ruins in guatemala. Plus it was quite expensive! we spent a day on the beautiful beach at Cancun, got sun burnt which seems to be standard for a Brit abroad! Then we travelled down to Tulum, staying here for a few days. It's a really laid back town, basically the only things to do are sun bathe on the stunning beach and visit the Mayan ruins! Not bad! We spent a few days on the beach, trying some spicy Mexican food in the evenings. And it can be very spicy theyve actually warned us!
We went to tulum ruins today, very nice with lots of Mayan buildings still very intact. There were lots of Mosquitos my foot is pretty disgusting! Ah well! The main temple is on the cliffs looking out to sea, and it's a very nice view! There is a beach just down from the temple which is beautiful, iguanas all lounging on the rocks in the sun. The water is so clear here, a nice turquoise colour!
Anyway, I think we are moving on tomorrow to Chetumal where we'll try to cross in to Belize!
That's it for now!
