Long Way To NZ
The Hofbrauhaus! What can I say, other than this place is heaven! All pubs should be like this! Live band playing in their leder-hosen (not a particularly good sight but I assume they realise they look ridiculous. Drinks served only in litre steins (obviously Hofbrau - memories of the good old days of the Wheatsheaf there). There are 80 year old women drinking out of the things!! Food was pretty good aswell - I was on the Pork Knuckle with potato dumplings.
Although we did spend each evening of the 3 nights that we were in Munich at the Hofbrauhaus we did get to see the rest of the city. The centre had all the usual impressive buildings - plus a cathedral with the Glockenspiel on its face. At 12noon everyday this thing plays its little tune and little soldiers go round in circles - a knight on a horse ends up getting shot. It was the most unimpressive thing I have ever seen but its just one of those things you have to see when in Munich.
We spent a lot of time in English gardens just lazing around soaking up the sun - beginning to get a touch of Church and Museum phobia at the moment. The English gardens are massive with a 7000 seat bar in the middle - steins as well of course. There is one section of the park that is open to nudists. Naturally, I had to go and walk around it - she was hard to find amongst about 100 old wilting men, but there was one half attractive girl there.
The last two mornings, I started my fitness regime back on schedule. I did a 5km run each morning around the park where the Octoberfest is held - it almost killed me so won't be doing any running again on this trip. Going to have to come back to Munich for the Octoberfest at some point though.
We left Munich on 3rd May and moved onto Prague.
