Thessaloniki and no reservations
We woke up had breakfast at 7 am then walked to the train station. Our train was at 8 to thessaloniki in greece, we got there minutes before, it was late as usual so not to bother. We got on the carriage in a coachette with the two guys, we arranged ourselves so we had enough leg room. They told us they had done this on the train from serbia, damn if we would of looked we could of had a decent nights sleep!
The train took a few hours and when we got to greece copey and i had no reservations anywhere. It was our turn to follow the lads, they had a reservation for a room at the atlantic hotel for €40 a night. We followed them and managed to get a twin for the same price, we got changed them headed out to the beach front, well we thought there would be a beach, there wasnt just a concrete seafront. We walked a lot that day, we found a white tower that some guy had painted white for his freedom a hundred years ago, we also found a beer festival so we noted that for the night.
We got a few beers in and ouch after paying £0.60 a pint it shot upto £3 a bottle, we knew this wasnt a place to party cheaply. On the upside we got free crisps and water with every drink, we were baffled at the water but it makes sense after a while,
1) its so warm here it keeps you hydrated
2) it would help curb binge drinking and drunked rabbles
We had a kebab for tea for €2.20 and got a bottle of mythos each, good old mythos, takes me back to falaraki when i was 21!
We headed out with one of the guys as the other was knackered, we went to the sea front and drank beer while watching the football. We headed down to the beer festival but it looked empty, it was quite late by then 11 pm. Near the beer festival there where a load of party boats, it was free entrance and the beers where €6 a piece, we didnt bother and headed to a busy bar nearer the hotel. We drank a lot in there it was again €6 a bottle not a cheap town to drink in.
