When we were planning this trip, we decided to spend the last three days in Bangkok, celebrating the Thai New Year. Paul has experienced it before and said so much about but I never could have imagined the H20 mayhem and madness that went on!
The water festival starts in the afternoon and there are literally thousands of people in the streets fully armed with anti tank weapons shaped in the form of powerful water pistols!!!!
Nobody is safe and nobody is spared, so we bought our own little arsenal, loaded up with water and hit the streets. Within seconds and I do mean seconds, we were engaged in water warfare!
It was mayhem, chaos, mental, crazy and WET! We absolutely loved it! It was so much fun and Paul was like Rambo chasing tuk tuks down the street and spraying the passengers. With the weather at 44 degrees it was actually nice to get a soaking. Music was blaring out from all the bars and there was dancing in the streets. The atmosphere was electric and not a hint of trouble anywhere. So many smiling, happy faces and everybody gets involved, even 80 yr old grannies throwing bucket loads from the pavement.
This goes on for 3 days and considering Thailand is experiencing its worst drought for 20 yrs that is never going to dampen the Thai spirit of fun.
Our last night in Thailand as we fly to Abu Dhabi in the morning.
