Dear All,
Sorry for not getting in touch sooner but we have been incognito since last Sunday. We arrived a day early on Koh Phi Phi and overnighted before leaving for Phi Phi Relax Resort the following morning. The resort is on the North East side of the island and when we saw the bungalow and the view, we were delighted. Within an hour, we decided to exrend our stay by another day. If we thought that the Jasmine Resort was paradise, then this was our Nirvana.
The resort was absolutely fantastic and the people all so friendly. We were cut off from the rest of the island and had no hot water and no electricity until 7pm when the air con came on. The food was the best we've eaten since we've been in Thailand. Did lots of snorkelling off the beach and used up our underwater cameras. There's some very funny shots though not intended to be so.
Took a day trip around the islands with a Danish family and visited Bamboo island, Monkey Island, Mosquiro Island and Viking Cove. Simply stunning! Maya Beach was where they filmed "The Beach". The sand was like talcum powder. We were told that there were Reef sharks about 100 metres from our beach so Marion and a couple of others went looking for them. She saw one which swam within 3 metres from her! They're not dangerous but still have sharp teeth!
Left Phi Phi Island yesterday afternoon and took the ferry back to Krabi. We changed our plans on going to Langkawi. We read that a lost hill tribe had ventured into the town and when asked who they were, they said, "We're the fukawi, who are you?"
Anyway, now that that has sunk in, we flew to Kuala Lumpur and arrived here at 3pm. Picked up by a friend and now staying in a suburb of KL for a few days. We will move on to Malacca next week.
We are sorry to be leaving Thailand, as we have had such a great time there. We will return.
Keep well,
Love,
Paul & Marion
