Paul and Laura on Tour
We realised whilst going through our piccies that we never wrote a journal entry for L.A. Know we probably emailed most of you an update whilst in L.A but thought I'd write a quick one here!!
We arrived in L.A following a night in possibly the most disgusting hotel I've ever been to in London!...paul booked it!! I feel sorry for those of you at Inclusive if he was in charge!! Hehe!! But we arrived safetly in L.A after flying with Virgin a few pounds heavier...they give you sooo much food! We decided that perhaps they were preparing us for the American portion sizes!!
The first day we got to the hotel and went straight to bed...feeling very sorry for ourselves with jet lag!! Got woken up around 5 in the morning by one of the resident drunks (I should've mentioned we were staying in downtown LA!) But we still managed to drag ourselves up early and head off like proper tourists to Disneyland!! The original Disneyland might I add! We spent all day being big kids which funnily enough was not all that difficult! we even decided to stay late for the fireworks which was well worth it!! They were a bit of a step up from the annual Freshfield Close ones!! Got back to Downtown LA around midnight on the night bus! Had a really scary walk back to our hotel. They estimate that L.A has 800,000 homeless people!! So as you can imagine nights werent especially nice.
The next day we decided to head for the coast and enjoy some sunshine and we went to Venice Beach and for all those of you from Manc, it was like Afflecks palace outdoors! Bizarre! I particularly enjoyed the greased up beef cakes working out on muscle beach! Think Paul thought he might give them a run for their money!! The lifeguards were so funny, v.baywatch! (See the pic!) Managed to drag Paul to do a bit of shopping in the afternoon....and I mean a bit! But its so cheap out here!! Mum, we need to go to New York!
Our final day was spent doing the ultimate toursisty trip of the Hollywood Hills and movie stars homes!! It was awesome!! We went to the Chinese Theatre where all the celebs leave their handprints and we kind of got to see the Hollywood sign, in the distance as its private land! then off we went to Beverley Hills to spy on the rich and famous!! Micheal Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones had 8 Ferrari's on their drive in an assortment of colours!! Oh to be wealthy!!
That basically was the end of our whistlestop LA tour (And it really was quick!) and we headed off to the colder climates of NZ!
