Paul's World Tour
Hi everybody from the city of angels - Los Angeles!
It's been about a month since my last postcard and i have spent most of my time chilling out in the fine city of Vancouver.
Vancouver is an amazing city - really clean with great views of the ocean and the mountains. I was staying in my friend Doug's penthouse appartment which was on the 28th floor and had stunning views of the city.
First weekend in the city and it was off to check out the Capalino Suspension Bridge. There are photos on the web and as you can see it is one of those very high and very wobbly bridges across a canyon - reminded me very much of Indiana Jones having to cross it.
After the first week in the city, Amy came to stay for 2 weeks. We took the Greyhound bus up to see the ski resort at Whistler - a very expensive place for posing around - not exactly suited to a couple of backpackers looking for cheap accommodation - ended up in some dodgy hostel called the shoestring lodge complete with its own strip bar next door!
Our next venture out the city took us to vancouver island and to the state capital of Victoria. A really picturesque part of the country but it took us 6 hours, 3 buses and a ferry just to get there!
A trip to Seattle was in order before leaving the pacific north west. Seattle was a cool place - the space needle is so much bigger than you expect it to be and the views from the top are really cool. The highlight of the trip, though, has to be going for a coffee in the world's first ever Starbucks - its the only one that doesn't have all the green logos as it has been preserved in its original state - cool.
Anyhow, time to sign off. Keep all your messages coming as i love reading them - and i've now managed to reply to most of them!!
Best wishes
Paul
