Monday Feb 4th 2002 - Prague to Salzburg….sunny again

Braced ourselves today for our biggest travelling day in Europe with another ham and jam breakfast at the St George. Another feast on the train (bananas, oranges, Snax and crunchies - thanks Catherine and Mary, dodgy Czech chocolate and water…mmmm). Fleeting glimpses of Vienna from Tram 18 between Sudenhof and Westenhof stations. Here we took advantage of the free (oh dear, the guilt) travel on the tram. Unfortunately we did encounter the strange Austrian phenomenan of groping/licking couples on the public transport. To revive, it's some plain sandwiches at 'Anker' standing in the station. Arrived in Salzburg (on the Bregenz train) at about 8.30pm. The ever helpful locals eventually brought us to YOHO Hostel (€38). Basic, busy but clean. Around the corner to a glittery Austrian Bar (Weinbacher) for a wee sandwich and some potato wedges. A final purchase of orange juice at the Hot Dog stand before retiring slightly before midnight.
