Not a very long journey from Whitehorse to Carcross today. We stopped along the way at Caribou Crossing Trading Post - a tourist mecca with restaurant, store, two museums, petting zoo, dog sled rides and more. One of the museums was another taxidermy display with many of the Yukon's large animals. Also stopped at the Carcross Desert, the 'world's smallest desert'. One square mile of rolling sand dunes, although too humid to be designated desert, is still an impressive sight.
In Carcross, we bought tickets on the White Pass and Yukon Railway for Skagway tomorrow (Sept 3/15). Following an overnight in Skagway, we will return by motorcoach. The train follows a different route from the road so it will be interesting both ways. Maybe the hotel will even have a bathtub!!!
