20 December - Slow drive up to Queenstown which is the adrenalin capital of the World. Arrived early and pitched tent again in beautiful sunshine. Then went to explore the town - decided to book in for a bungy jump (Pat) and white water rafting (both of us).

21 December - Awoke again to a beautiful day - set off for Kawarau Bridge which is the home of the bungy. Watched all the nutters jumping - then it was Pat's turn. He dived off in spectacular fashion and got a bit of a dunking in the river. We have video footage of it all. Then we went to Arrowtown which is a lovely little old gold mining town where you can still pan for gold in the river. We didn't find any.

22 December - Another beautiful day - can't believe how lucky we've been when doing our special activities. Set off by bus along Skippers Canyon to the launch site for our White Water Rafting. The journey itself was an event in itself. The bus was towing a trailer carrying 4 rafts and Skippers Canyon is not for the faint hearted. The road was windy, narrow and rubbly with sheer drops down into the canyon. Once we got to the launch site there was no chickening out as the journey back would have been too terrifying! We set off in the rafts at a leisurely pace after the safety briefing. It wasn't too long before the first rapid appeared - it was exciting to say the least but that was one of the easy ones - there were bigger ones to follow. We got stuck across one rapid with another raft and it took a while to release us - meanwhile the boat was filling with water and we were clinging on! We went through Jaws, The Rock Garden, The Mother and a few others. A few scary moments but was very exhilarating. Finally went through a tunnel and out into The Cascade. WOW! It was great fun and Pat said I had a grin like a cheshire cat for the rest of the day because I was brave enough to do it!

When we got back from the rafting we went up in the Gondola to the top of the mountain overlooking Queenstown. Again, awesome views. We rode the Luge which was like go karting down part of the mountain.

23 December - Went to Glenorchy - had heard it was lovely but we were a bit disappointed - not as nice as we thought. Went back to Arrowtown - walked by the river.
