Today the plan was to get as close to Mackay as possible without killing ourselves. We crossed the Tropic of Capricorn in Rockhampton at morning coffee time and noted that our phone GPS gave a different co-ordinate than the actual one. Has it been placed in the wrong place? We decided to have a driving day today so left Sandstone Point early and drove the length of the Sunshine Coast but stayed on the highway and didn’t visit any of the places that we’ll drop into on the way back. Thought we’d spend today on Bribie Island as it is where one of our granddaughters live. The bridge to the island is just near our park so it didn’t take long to get there. Ellie, our granddaughter, was having a swimming lesson at the local pool, so we sat and watched, giving encouragement from the poolside. We awoke to the diesel heater not working on a chilly morning so I thought the best course of action was to have a nice hot shower. The lights seemed to be flickering a little as the pump ran but I lathered my hair in shampoo anyway at which point the power cut out completely! No more pumped water or lights. Arrg!! Fortunately there was some water in the kettle and a thermos from yesterday so I was able to flush out (in the semi darkness) the rest of the shampoo....

Today we decided to visit Coochiemuldo Island which is a short 10 minute ferry trip from Victoria Point, about 15 min drive from our caravan. It was another perfect day and the island, which is small, was lovely. First stop was the cafe closest to the ferry terminal where we enjoyed morning coffee and a lamington.
