Well after recovering from the Lares trek and the excitement of Machu Picchu we barely had time to catch our breaths before getting on the most touristy bus ever and making our way to Puno, on Lake Titicaca. Another early start and we were off! The journey was about 7hours and took in the Altiplano and surrounding towns as well as an Inca site and the old gates of Cusco. Can safely say am now Inca¨ed out! haha after Machu Picchu nothing was ever going to compare! The tour was still interesting enough!
Arriving into Puno, wasn't very impressed it seemed all a bit grimey so was lad when hotel picked us up from the bus station! The hotel, yes hotel not hostel haha, was great!! Own room, hot running water and a TV!! The hotel also helped us organise everything from our bus to Arequipa and Lima as well as the Floating Island tour which we done the next day! That night we were exhausted so ordered take away haha.
Another early start to get to the floating islands (am getting used to them now haha). So after the bus to the dock we boarded a small boat and headed out for Uros. The islands were amazing to think this was how some people lived!! They built them and all structures from the reeds found in Titicaca and when they get fed up they can cut around the house and float on to somewhere else! After Uros we headed to Isla Taquile were we found out how the Aymar people lived, even got involved in some traditional dancing haha before lunch! After lunch walked around more of the island before getting back on the boat and heading to the mainland!
On Sunday we were off to Arequipa again, breaking up the journey back to Lima. Bus wasn't that long from Puno only about 5 hours so got into Arequipa at night so had another early night haha. Next day took Jo on all the sites of Arequipa, i.e the main square haha and done some souvenir shopping! Even bought myself a pair of baby alpaca slippers!!! There soooo fluffy!! Then was back on the bus again and off to Lima.
The Lima bus took around 15hours so not as bad as first time made that journey haha. And got to the hostel where Paula was waiting! Never done much that day other than had our goodbye lunch with Jo before her flight and lazed around as never slept much on the bus!
Lima was still its grey self haha although on Wednesday the sun did come out, which made a nice change rather than walking in the grey smog filled air!!
Leaving Lima for La Paz on Saturday morning, another mammoth journey of 27hours which means will almost def be 30plus haha.
