hello everybody, hows things? im just back from my holibags. my mum is still ere and we went up to Queensland on sun for 5 days. this is shockingly the first time i have ventured out of sydney. we flew up to Proserpine which is the Whitsunday coast. this has to be the smallest airport i have ever seen. we spent the first day in Airlie beach which is a cool lil town right on the coast. was a lil disapointed with their beach but we couldnt swim anyway as its stinger season. n i have a phobia of jellyfish as it is never mind ones that can kill ya. thankfully they have this man made lagoon which was amazing for swimming in. the weather was a fantastic 35 degrees.
the next day we made our way to abel point marina and got on our 60ft sail boat called Eureka n set sail for the whitsunday islands. our boat held 16 people who were all very cool and our 2 crew called Shannen and Zach, who was a bit of a hottie. anyways! the first afternoon was a nice relaxing cruise over the whitsunday passage past north molle island and then around whitsunday island which is the largest of the group. for those of you who know me im not a boat person but the water was so still that i never once felt queezy even over 3 days. it ws pretty cool, the crew got everyone to chip in n help drive the boat and put up the sails n stuff. was very good fun, even thou when i drove i nearly knocked a few over board. lol.
the first stop we made was dumbell island for a snorkel. which was apparantly one of the nicest spots in the great barrier reef. so i got on my stinger suit, flippers, snorkel n mask n jumped in. water was bout 24 degrees adn the coral was amazing! all sorts of colours, shapes n sizes. and i saw heaps of gorg brightly coloured fish. dont ask me what they where as i dont really have a clue. but i did see angel fish, rainbow trout and a few lil nemo's. snorkling kinda freaked me out a bit as i kept expecting some big f*** shark behind me. but thankfully they are night time predators and i was told that reef sharks cant open their mouths wide enuf to even bite your wrist. even still, i would still s*** a brick if i saw one. it was quite sad as i expected the coral to be really vibrant but alot of the spots we visited were suffering from bleaching!  ive taken photos on my lil underwater camera so will get them developed n you can have a look for yourselves. Then we sailed south of whitsunday island whilst the sunset and arrived at Whitehaven beach in complete darkness. we sat n had dinner n drank wine under stars on the boat. it was gorgeous. i have never seen so many stars in all my life. it was so cool i wanted to sleep outside on the boat but it was too uncomfortable and i never had a swag!
woke up around 7 am and had breakfast whilst watch the loggerhead turtles come up for air around us. it was so cool. totally love turtles. the view of whitehaven beach was like nothing ive ever seen before. complete paradise. its massive over a kilometre long of pure white sand and crystal clear water. so after brekkie we got in the dingy and went across spent the morning on the deserted beach. it was only 9am and i could feel my skin burning. not alot to do on the beach except lie in the sun, swimming meant putting the stinger suit back on. so never bothered. then we got back on the boat n sailed to a place called Esk Island. which has the most concentration of black adders in the world. so never bothered getting off the boat there. then we sailed off north towards Hayman Island and stopped at Pinnacle Point to Snorkel where i was told reef sharks would be sleeping 15m below. Argh!!!! then sailed around Hayman Island (which costs 10grand a night to stay on) to Blue Pearl Bay where we watched the sunset. which was beautiful. another cool night of boozing on the boat and the morning we spent snorkelling there. then a lovely sail back to Airlie beach.
We spent Wed night and thursday during the day in Airlie beach, swimming at the lagoon and eating n drinking loads. was a fab lil holiday. cant believe its only a 2hr flight from Sydney and was cheap as chips. cant wait now to go all the way up the east coast. only got 5 weeks to go.
anyways think ive rabbited on enough, so will let you all go. speak to ya soon. loadsa love pammy x
(oh by the way enjoy Berlin you lucky b******s at SDA wish i was going)
