Another busy day draws to a close. Astronomical pancakes, colonial Williamsburg, the mall, home cooked supper and then a parish film night. Lovely to see Joe and Mel. Tomorrow we head off!

Hot, sunny, gorgeous with just the most amazing scenery. Today we visited Jamestown and Yorktown. How do the 'mericans get so excited about Brits when we were public enemy no.1?! The history was interesting but the margarita was better! Rounded off with a trip to an enormous Walmart (classier than Asda!)

On leaving Washington, we visited Mount Vernon. Very pretty estate - not what I expected. Onwards to the Potomac Mills - 'mericans are not great at road signs. Then we pootled down to Williamsburg, somewhat slower than anticipated. Why did no one warn me about refuelling??! Lovely to be with Mel again!

Wake up! It's a beautiful morning! After a slow start, breakfast was savoured. Crispy bacon, how I love you. Then off we set. The humidity was overbearing the minute we stepped outside! The Metro has this whizzy card system which is fun to use. I guess it's much like Oyster but it's not related to going to work. So, we're stateside! Arrived to a very hot humid Dulles airport. His Orangeness delayed our arrival at the terminal and I didn't even get to see Air Force One. We are in a rather lush white Jeep, after trying a variety that were way, way to big to drive! It's actually Canuck, which is funny. Currently taking refuge off Route 66 due to the most amazing storm (makes the weather last Tuesday look like it trickled). It should pass so we can carry on up to the ove...
