Okay, Okay!!! I have finally posted some pictures. From what I can tell, the best way to see them is to click on photo albums on the left and then you can view them as a group.
I have been slack on the photos so far because there has been nothing to take pictures of! If you look in the Album for Carlsbad, I have a picture of the typical view out my driver's window for the past 3 days. That is pretty much all we have seen. I also included a picture of what the kids look like...watching TV, reading books, doing their summer homework, writing in their journals, playing on the computer. Note that Jimmy Jr. has relocated to the back seat. He wanted a break from being my navigator! If I had been thinking, I would have taken a picture of the blown out tire and also of our friends Mark and Cassandra. Oh well, I promise we will be better in our pictures.
I hate to disappoint anyone, but we had a very uneventful day. Thank Goodness! We got up early, had breakfast at the girls' new favorite place...KOA Campground, and hit the road for Carlsbad Caverns. We all loved them! Pictures do not do the caverns justice at all. They are the largest caverns in the western hemisphere. We just explored one room, the main one, and walking at a brisk pace it took us an hour and a half. You could spend DAYS there. To give you an idea, at one point, the distance between the ceiling and the floor was 370 feet! Truly unbelievable. Clark took 242 pictures! Most of them did not turn out well...the lighting was really off. However there were a few good ones. Make sure to view the album. One of the kids' favorite formations was one that looked like a nipple. Nice, huh? You can't tell how large it is from the picture, but the whole "breast" was probably 10 feet in diameter.
After the caverns, we got on the road to AZ. It is clear that MapQuest and GPS estimated driving times are not for people towing trailers or for people that have to stop and eat/gas up/etc. According to them it should have taken us 7.5 hours, instead it took us 9.5. We only made it to Tucson, AZ tonight. Arrived just before 10. Jimmy Sr. is in Phoenix, waiting for us! I was afraid to drive any longer. We're staying at a beautiful RV park, doing laundry in the a.m., and heading off to Phoenix to get Jimmy and go to the Grand Canyon. Hope to stop at Thunderbird on the way and show the kids where I went to Grad School.
Time to go to bed. I'll take more pictures of the inside of our trailer tomorrow so you can see just how luxurious it is and understand why the kids love it so much more than a hotel.
