The trad session at the Sleive Bloom Pub Kinnitty Co. Offaly was not to be missed. Wednesday night and not a tourist to be seen (except us). Kieren the publican allowed us to camp outside the pub. Went to a great pub in Birr for dinner. The next day we took up an midweek deal at Kinnitty Castle. Great restaurant. We had the run of the place. The room was decorated in the style of.a catle. Standing stones behind the castle and deer running through the horses around the grounds added to it. The following week we visitied again; driving over the mountains in the
big motor home (had to back up for miles to allow a logging truck to
prove his weight) and stayed in Clonaslee County Laois for the mountain music
festival. A very broad range of musicians with the highlight being an evening in the Swan Inn with the kids until pumpkin hour and then we met up with the locals in a small ounge room type pub called Hickeys. Unbeatable.
