Gus (Austin) said that he never met any of his Grandparents siblings; i understand that none of them made it into their teens. His father Pat was a gardener at the precurser to the Falls Hotel (McNamara House, of Dylan Thomas and Caitlin Macnamara fame) where he met Josephine Ferris who was a domestic consumption manager (or similar fancy term for a maid)?. They married in Dublin where their first was born Michael Joseph was born (@1911).

The text from the local church newsletter (Parish Priest of Kilshanny:Father Killeen) says:

A cetain Mrs Davis was evicted from her home and had nowhere to go. On the following Sunday Father Killeen pathertically described her position with an apt quoatation from the Gospel: "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air their nests!....but poor Mrs. Davis has not whereon to lay her head." He organized a 'meithil', who built a house for Mrs. Davis in one day. he was not responsible for the fact that the men coming with their horses and carts in the morning, provided the stones for the house from the walls and gate-posts along the road!.
