Owen and Sarah's adventure
Well we've not done much this week, which of course was intentional!
We have spent this past week in a small bungalow, a basic hut with one room and an en suite (no hot water!). For $2.50 a night each not complaining! It has a great view of the beach and lovely sunsets. We also share the bathroom with a big Gecko Lizard that we've called Gary! He is there every morning and night, and is aslong as your fingers to you elbow with big orange stripes!
We hired a moped as its the best way to get round the island, and cheaper than taxi's. Taxis here are 4x4 flat bed trucks, needed to reach the more remote resorts! The roads are just dirt roads with rocks everywhere so bit precarious, we have to leave the bike and walk quite far to get to some of the beaches.
The island is small but has plenty packed in. It was once excusively a diving resort so if you didnt dive you couldn't stay here. Obviously thats changed but it is still the place the go scuba diving in Thailand. We decided we couldn't afford this and niether of us were that bothered anyway, as we have seen loads just snorkelling.
Sarah found her perfect beach so we have spent most days there sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. There are some amazing colourful fish and the coral is really interesting, the fish are almost tame swimming right up to your mask and some follow you around. We got an underwater camera so if we can we will scan some in when its developed.
We are going back to Bangkok tomorrow to meet the Thai family Owen knows.
Hope you are all ok.
Love Owen and Sarah xx
