Today we walked all along the water front of the old town and the venetian harbor of Rethymno. We paid a visit to the archeological museum which contained artifacts dating back to the 4th cent BC up to statues from the first and second century AD. Its mind blowing to think they have recovered all of these in Crete and its hard to wrap your mind around how old it is! We had another walk around old town Chania in the morning and enjoyed one last view of the water front before heading out to catch the bus to Rethymno! Today we embarked another winedy and crazy bus ride to the beautiful Elafonisi beach on the very most south western corner of Crete. We spent the day exploring the old town area of Chania. Walked along the big sea wall to the light house and explored all along the seaside boulevard around the old town area. It was a scorcher of a day again (31!) and spent the later half of the afternoon at the beach to work on our tans, and went for a much needed dip in the Mediterranean!
