Our Global Gallivants
We were both up early today. Packed our suitcases and headed to the airport at 11. Our flight has been delayed 1 hour because there's an air show going on at the airport. This is a smaller international airport and the military is putting on the air show for Children's Day.
It's quite the production when you land in Cambodia. Everyone has to pay $30 US for a visa. Needless to say, that's an enormous line up-everyone on your flight, and before they're finished with one flight, another one comes in.
From there you go and collect your luggage. Dave's beloved hard side oyster Samsonite suitcase had the hinge broken. The only place there is any staff is at the lost and found, so we head over there. There's a family from Argentina there filing a complaint because their fabric carry on bag that they checked blew a zipper. It was roughly strapped shut with tape and then put in a plastic bag. We will try for some compensation from Air Asia, but we're not holding our breath on that one. I guess we'll have to limp it along for the rest of the trip.
The driver from the hotel was still waiting for us and things went smoothly from there. This is a very nice hotel. They gave us an upgraded room since they oversold the one we booked. We unpacked our bags and headed out for dinner in a tuk-tuk. The ride was fun and the Khmer food was good. After dinner we did a scan of the night market. It's a better market than the one in Thailand and will probably pay it another visit.
