Breakfast is included with our room-what a gong show that was! This hotel (Fairfield Inn, Marriott) is full of preschool kids. Every food tray was wiped out, refilled and wiped out again. Carried on with our journey south today. Made a stop in Idaho Falls and noticed what looked like a huge infinity pool in the river, so we drove to the opposite bank to have a look. It is a hydroelectric damn that they have also made into a water feature. Some of the landscaping is still under construction, but the area in the water looks similar to the kayaking area off Deerfoot in Calgary. This area was in the historic downtown area of Idaho Falls. Today we drove north in the park. There's a couple of other spots we wanted to see. First stop: Artist Paint Pots The information centre did inform us that this area is dying, but since I had seen so many cool photos from there I wanted to stop anyhow. It didn't hold a candle to yesterday's Grand Crystal Prism. There was some road construction along the way, but didn't hold us up too long. We were a little smarter today and had a lunch made for us before we left for the day. Our first stop on the itinerary was the Lower Basin to see the Fountain Artist Pots. Very unique! A strange mixture of whitish grey and peachy coloured clay/mud bubbling on the ground. A nice walk around there and then we headed to the Middle Basin. We saw a lot of interesting things today. Although we saw Old Faithful, it was from a long distance. There was about 11/2 hrs to wait for it to blow when we got there, so we decided to take a walk on the boardwalk. The colour in some of the pools is caused by the microorganism living in them. That colour of the pools can change because the temperature of the water changes, depending on the season. As far as wildlife goes, we saw some kind of blue bird, bison, dee...
