Well as we arrived bright and early in Venice and we only planned to spend 1 night we hit the cobbled streets bright and early. Luckily the hotel I chose was nice and close to not only the train but also the canal ferries. We went straight to the ferry terminal to make our way through the Grand Canal to Piazza San Marco, it was such a fun ferry trip, though to start with we were crammed together like sardines as all the workers were making there way to the city for the day but luckily the crowd thinned our pretty quickly and we were able to move around and have a good look around the canals (it's an amazing and beautiful city, was surprised at how clean the canals were) we arrived at Piazza San Marco and here we were able to see St Mark's Basilica which was a beautiful Basilica. We are also able to shop a little bit and I bought my first Italian leather hand bag for only 40E. I also got to have a look through the markets along the canal which sold the Viennese masks and lots of art works. We decided to go to Murano Island where they make the world famous Murano glass, it was a long trip on the ferry but well worth it as you get to see so much. Murano Island was very cute and there was so much beautiful Murano glass I could have gone crazy, but I was very good and bought myself a colourful pendant which I love. That was pretty much our day done except we went and had some pizza in a little cafe back at San Marco, it was a really lovely day spent cruising the canals, when we come back we will take to the streets and see a different side of Venice. It was a really special place and I'm glad we came for a visit however quick it was. Tommorrow we are off to Florence and Pisa.
