Arrived in the capital of Laos and we're hit with the searing heat! we quickly found a cafe where D sat and had a drink while I searched the immediate area to find some suitable guesthouses - we find it is easier this way, I can get around quicker without my bag and D has little to do!
As it was the capital the places were more expensive than usual. but we settled for a nice place that included breakfast.
We headed out that afternoon to go and see a few of the sites, visiting the cities major temple Sisaket and the victory gate which resemblesthe arc de triumphe, we then headed to the night market as light began to fade but as we arrived everyone seemed to be packing up! all seemed a bit strange at first but as soon as we stopped for a drink the heavens opened and there was quite a vicious storm - lesson one, the locals defo know best - we booked our transport out of the city for the following evening that would take us south towards the 4000 islands.
Most of the next day was spent at the local swimming baths! the best way we could avoid the heat. All in all a friendly capital city but not a great deal to be done!
