Internationally Lao PDR is officially the Peoples Democratic Republic, here in the country the unofficial meaning of PDR is Please dont rush! this was especially evident on the islands, we arrived with about 10 days to spare until we were to head into Cambodia, after arriving midday we picked a cheap guesthouse quite near the pier so that we could dump our bags and find something a bit better without the extra weight!
Our plan to have a quiet night before moving on was foiled by a group of french tourists we met who invited us for 'some' drinks with a couple of locals! the next few hours were spent celebrating the local couples 4 year anniversary, and the locals can definitely drink! After having a dance with the French we moved in to town to party with the Germans! A great night!

We managed to find somewhere cheaper and nicer the following day and the next 3 days were spent mainly relaxing with a kayaking trip thrown in, we were lucky enough to see the rare irawaddy dolphins and stay afloat through the rapids!
beautiful islands but decided to leave before the locals rubbed off on us too much and we were confined to a hammock for the rest of our lives!
