Left the buzzing city of Phnom Penh for now and taking some time out to chill hard in Sihanoukville. Sihanoukville is Cambodia's premier beach location, a peninsula ringed by pretty white sand beaches and surrounded by many tiny islands. Still debating whether its beaches rival those of southern Thailand, though the place is truly gorgeous!
We spent our first few nights staying with friends in Serendipity (the backpackers party place), had a great time, and managed to save some pennies with our $1 beds (or should I say gym mats) and all food under $2! All partied out (Serendipity is not the most relaxing place in the world!) we left for Otres Beach.
Otres beach is peaceful and not as well known, with white sand and calm tides. Fewer beggars and street children are around and the beach has a far more relaxed vibe. Loved it here, lazed about, read countless books and listened to a lot of music. Heaven!
We spent our last few days before heading back to the capital of Phnom Penh off the main land on the hideaway island of Ko Rong, apart from the worst boat journey ever there and back (i didn't realise I suffered from terrible sea sickness until now! D by the way) the place was complete paradise.
White sand beaches and turquoise waters, not over crowded with tourists, spear fishing, bamboo bungalows, makeshift bbqs, limited electricity and water- totally amazing!
