So we have left Ko Chang now unfortunately, but we're very excited about Cambodia!
A whole day was taken out of our travels to get from the Thai Island to the Cambodia border crossing Poipet and on to Siem Reap. We had both read plenty about the notoriously scammy Thai/Cambodia border crossing and hoped we were clued up enough to avoid as many of them as possible. We paid for an organised service in Ko Chang that would take us all the way to the city of Siem Reap- nothing could go wrong. Wrong! Our own bus company tried to scam us at least 5 times, eventually abandoned us because we wouldn't let them scam us, tried pushing us off a FREE shuttle bus and had a fight with a fellow traveller using Cambodian martial arts! Thats not even the half of it, it was complete madness - feeling disgusted and extremely peed off we paid for another local bus to take us in to the city! Never again!
It was certainly not a good introduction to the country!
Not all bad though, we came out on top eventually, sticking to our guns we only paid the $20 + 100 bhat for our visa unlike some of our fellow travellers on our bus and arrived in one piece just about!
A Cambodian tourist visa only costs $20! and if anyone tries to tell you otherwise, you’re not at the border yet! That’s the best advice we can share with anybody!
