I made it to Jaco yesterday which is on the South Eastern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and is known as the Holiday Capital of Costa Rica!!

I left San Jose on the 7am bus from the Coca Cola Bus Station, which meant getting up at 6am.....wasn't overly impressed by this after being kept awake by a squeeky head-board from the dorm behind me and due to excessive amounts of snoring from a German guy in my dorm room....so basically got 2hours kip....not the best start!! Anyway i made the bus this time, although only just and after a 2.5 hour journey i had dscovered from the lady sitting next to me that the driver had driven past Jaco (i expected to be dropped in a city centre with loads of skyscrappers from what i had heard about the place!!) and that i should get off the bus.....obviously i was thrilled by this news and got off at the next available stop which was near to 'Hermosa' and was a 30minute walk away in 28degree heat to Hotel De Haan, which is where i am staying now!! I was left on the side of the highway at about 10am and a local road-salesman informed me that "taxis hardly ever come past here so you can either make a 30minute walk or hitch a ride....i do it all the time!" This left me in a bit of a predicament as i had 3 bags including my surfboard to lug in less than ideal climatic conditions and after thinking over my situation for about 15mins i decided to hitch a ride....the first time i had and will hopefully ever do this......luckily straight away a huge black dumper truck decided to pull over and after talking to the guy called 'Teeno' for a couple of minutes i decided it was safe to get a lift with him......he turned out to be a completely sound guy and a life saver......he dropped me off to the door of my hostel and wished me all the best....i offered him some cash but he refused.....i ask you how often this would happen in the uk?!!

Anyway, i have moved from my original dorm and am now in the cheaper option, which is pretty much the same as the first dorm although i don't have as much space or a kitchen that doesn't work...along with many other features.....

I watched a surfing competition on Jaco beach yesterday, which hosted some amazing talent....i was particularly amazed by the guts and skills of a much younger kid who made it through to the semi finals!! Did some surfing myself to and have been making the most of the Hostels swiming pool. Ended up watchng most of the surf competition, which was held from fri to sun and obviously did as much surfing as i could between times. I surfed Jaco beach on a couple of occassions but it was usually pretty small so i decided to check out the nearby spot of Hermosa, which holds much bigger surf and was a 3 pound taxi journey. Hermosa is a far nicer beach and has much cleaner water and there were also plenty of Lizards hanging around in the sun. The surf also turned out to be much better to and i ended up
