Red lights. Amsterdam and Haarlam
(1st-4th September 2013)
So as I write this we're winging our way to Bangkok from a lovely few days in Amsterdam. We spent the first day in Holland doing a free walking tour exploring the delights of the city with a slightly eccentric tour guide who reminded me of young Bonsall after having taken a happy pill or 2 (hard to imagine I know)!
Yesterday we took a day trip to haarlam to get out of hustle and bustle of Amsterdam and the constant blaze of the red lights on our retinas. I'd definitely recommend a day trip to Haarlem it you're ever over in Amsterdam. That evening was then spent back in Amsterdam drinking in coffee shops and taking a cruise down the canals and the river Amstel. Food in Holland was pretty standard back packers stuff -bread, ham and cheese from supermarkets and what ever else was cheapish including a pretty tasty place called burger bar and sushi from Albert Heijn (Hollands equivalent of spar).
Right, I won't Waffle on any more than that other than to say hope you're all well and the first week back at school for our friends who are teachers, is going well.
Lots of love to you all from roughly somewhere above Turkey (we tried waving Kim, hope you're enjoying having Matt over to see you!) Jojo x x
