A twisty turny final journey back to Sofia, with a diversion up to Rila monestry.

After 4 days of waking up to atmospheric cloud, today was just slightly different, with cloudless blue skys and white peaked mountains in view. Rila monestry couldn't have felt more special with frost under foot and monks wrapped up in their thickest 'capes'.

With one last evening in Sofia, it would have been a shame not to visit Sun and Moon, our favourite cafe bar for an evening of the finest Bulgarian beers and wines. With £15 in bulgarian Leva to spend, we came home merry and still £4 ready for coffee in the airport. Perfect!

Final night away from home, was spent feeling sick with nerves and excitement. I can feel the embarrassing tears beginning to start loading up ready for tomorrow.

Final Fairwell to our little Renault Clio and a lift to the airport. We even got a little leaving present from the car hire man!
