Today we headed off for our day tour to Fraser Island which we were all really looking forward to but as soon as we stepped on the island it started pouring with rain! We did have the most cheesiest tour guides ever and us 3 kept to the back like naughty school children!
Our first stop was the famous Lake McKenzie, which was beautiful and we had a swim and morning tea! Unfortunately our next stop was quite depressing as the guide had us all out of the bus walking and ironically it was raining in the rainforest! I cant say it wasnt lovely but it when you are soaked through its not the same! By this point we had decided that we would have much preferred to do the self guided tour and hire a 4WD ourselves as it is such a touristy place at least then you can get away from the crowds a little! We saw some other cool bits like the rainbow coloured sands, a shipwrecked onto the beach and swam in Eli Creek.
It is amazing for a World Heritage Site how many tourists and different tour companies they allow to be there but it is an amazing place and probably a lot better in the nice weather to really enjoy it but worthwhile to go there.
The funniest part of the day actually had to be the fact that all day we were looking to spot a dingo and the driver was talking about them as everyone is really interested in them due to all the press they've had. Unfortunately we didnt see one but walking along the beach to catch the ferry back we saw some prints in the sand and me and Olof said "o a dingo has been here" we didnt think anything of it at the time but Ash replied "no thats a dog a dingoes feet are like sticks!" Later we found out he thought a dingo was a type of kangaroo. The funniest mental image of a kangaroo running off with someones bag in their pouch!
