Today TEAN (the education agency I am with) held their own version of Amazing Race, which is designed to get students comfortable with navigating public transport, asking friendly locals for directions when needed, and to introduce aspects of Aussie culture. Amazing Race is a TV show where contestants have various challenges to complete. We had to run around Sydney gathering clues in order to find our way to the finish line (which ended up being the Opera House). We started at the hostel then had to go to the stairs of the Sydney Harbor Bridge where two members of each team (teams of four) had to eat a piece of bread with vegemite on it (for those of you who have had vegemite what a challenge that was) then we ran to the next challenge where the two members who didn't eat the bread had to run up 300 stairs to get a picture with the Opera House in the background, I did this challenge. Every time we would complete a challenge we would get a clue to the next place. Other challenges included taking a train 30 min outside of the city, singing karaoke in a bar, and taking multiple buses around Sydney. Once we arrived at the Opera house we had lunch at the Opera House Bar overlooking the harbor and the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
For dinner we all dressed up and went on a Sydney Harbor dinner cruise where we had a great view of the Opera house, the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the rest of Sydney.
